Hatred of lables...
May. 6th, 2004 03:11 amAm I the only one who gets really mad and kind of sad when they see people inroducing themselves (in this community and others) and listing a "disorder" that they have been labled as having in their introduction?
I hate it...
I have serious issues with labling humanity. It strikes me as being truely blasphemous. There is no way to put a soul into a few words and have it be over and done with, a human being can't be put into a term. For God's sake, there is nothing "wrong" with anyone! If there's anything I've learned in my short life, it's that people are inherrently flawed, yet also inherrently good. You are what you are, and that is that. I think it's horrible that humanity's desire to explain everything has spread to the soul. There are some things that just don't have an explaination, and don't need one. Human nature is one of those things. You shouldn't just lie down and let yourself be put in a box like that!
Don't get me wrong, there are people who are different, and being different can be painful, I know that from expirience. But does that mean there's something wrong with people (like me) who's souls differ from the masses? No. We aren't different because something is wrong with us, we are just different because we are. No one should force themselves into a lable just because they aren't like the rest. Everyone is different, and some are just more different than others. Big deal! Does that mean they should just lable themselves and submit to it? No way! Infact, people who are different should reject lables more so than others!
People need to realize that people are people. No one really fits a lable just right, so lables should be rendered useless, left behind with everything else that has become obsolete. I especially hate the term "mentally ill", because it's a constant reminder of one of the biggest things wrong in this world: If you are different, you must have something wrong with you. Why is difference treated like a disease? When it all comes down to it, lables like this are toxic, and need to be buried forever.
Then again, I hate the entire concept of psychiatry...
