I don't know how many of you, if any, can relate to this, but have you ever stopped to think about how much you have gotten from people throughout your life? I don't mean things like your father's eyes, or the sweater from Aunt Millie, but the things you pick up or take from others. Say, for example, you really like Band X, and when you think back on it, the first time you ever heard Band X was at a friend's house, which prompted you get your own copy of the album, that you still own to this day. It could be even so little as a saying or mannerism or facial expression that you know you weren't doing/saying/using before So-and-So fell into your life. Whatever, the point is that it's kinda spooky when you realize how much people can change you and you them without either of you ever consciously realizing it.
The really funny part is that the person in question doesn't need to be close in any way. The most casual acquaintance can plant a seed that never goes away. Closeness and intimacy increase the number of seeds that are planted, not the depth at which they take root.
Homework assignment for shameless gluttons for punishment and the chronically bored:
See if you can figure out where your most unique learned behaviors (mannerisms, gestures, sayings, etc... - Come on people, try to stay with me here! LOL) originated.
